Flight Path : Stable Descent : Fully Inflated Canopy
MOVIE 1:   31 seconds

Stable Descent

Focusing on why a parachute collapses can become a major source of insight into how to improve its design. In Movie 1's first three cases, the use of 1 or 2 strings causes the collapse. In the next cases, oscillating flight causes the canopy to fold and capture so little air as to produce little drag.
